  1. Who is the target audience for Cuffs? (mass or niche? AGILE?) The target audience for Cuffs was a mass audience because BBC wanted it to be as big as Eastenders. Furthermore, many people were supposed to watch it as it was before the watershed, so it wasn't to graphic to watch as a family.
  2. How does Cuffs appeal to them? (specific examples of content) Cuffs appealed to the audience as it is very intense and has tense storylines that make people want to carry on watching, for example there is a car chase that has dramatic music which is parallel sound because it matched the mood of the scene. This made viewers intrigued and want to carry on watching.
  3. What is uses and gratifications theory? Uses and gratifications theory assumes that audiences actively seek out media to satisfy their individual needs
  4. Using the information from the booklet, how can each of the Uses and Gratifications be applied to Cuffs? Because if someone is going through a hard time, they can use the program as a comfort. This can offer pleasure for people who use television as a substitute for real life interaction. People can also identify as certain characters.
  5. What is an active audience? An active audience is people who often post about a show or character on social media or research about it. They can also learn a message from watching.
  6. How could an active audience interpret Cuffs? An active audience can watch Cuffs and realise the issues that are going on in society and see what it's like to live in different parts of a country. They can also learn many issues in society and how to solve them, like shoplifting or racism
