- Public service broadcasting is broadcasting something that informs, entertains and educates viewers
- Examples of public service broadcasting: David Attenborough: gives information and educates viewers about animals, entertains viewers. Eastenders informs viewers of issues that people may be going through. It educates viewers because it can help them come up with a solution if they are going through a similar problem as one of the characters.
- BBC Remit is their values. To enrich people's lives with programmes and services that inform, educate and entertain.‘To reflect the UK, its culture and values to the world’
- Inform: Gives viewers information that is relevant and helpful Educate:Viewers learn things from watching(different cultures) Entertain: Gives people a reason to come back. Enjoyable and not boring
- BBC remit in cuffs: Inform - gives people an idea of how to act in social situations (example: if you see danger, you should try and escape) Entertain - having a interesting story line that people can relate to. Educate - Shows the consequences of being an alcoholic and drug addiction

1 advantage: All programs are to the same standard as they all have the same good qualities (for example, they all educate viewers)
