Media type: Film – ‘Searching’ described on the Independent

-       The article immediately told the readers the key points of the movie focussing on it being a new genre that had positives and weaknesses in its performance.



-       Headline in Arial-type font whereas main body of article was in Times New Roman. Media specialists agree that an Arial font is easier to grab attention for headlines and draws people into the article whereas a Times New Roman font is easier to read for the main body.
-       The white, bold headline is striking against a black background contrasting sharply with the black text on white background.



-       The star rating at the top of the article made it especially clear to see what the critic thought of the film so that it wasn’t critical to read the entire article to understand that the author’s view was.





Media type: Song - ‘sweetener’ Album review described by Pitch Fork


-       The article immediately told the readers what the authors opinion on the album is and the genre.
-       The title of the album is bold and in italic which brings attention to it and makes it stand out.
-       The album art work is shown in the title of the article which makes it even more clear what the article is about.
-       There is a clear rating of the album to see what the author thought of the album.
-       At the bottom of the article,  it shows more reviews for the singers other albums.


Media type: TV – ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ episode reviewed by Cosmopolitan


-       There is a bold, and big headline which draws the reader in.
-       The headline says “LOL”, so the reader immediately knows it is a funny story.
-       The article has links to other articles.
-       The article has pictures which makes the article more interesting.
-       The contrast of the more minimalist font makes the article easier to read compared to the bold and big font in the headline.



Media type: Website – ‘Pretty Little Thing’


-       On this shopping website, there is a clear logo, taking a large presence at the top of the page.
-       There is an immediate impression that there is a sale with 20% off everything as it is at the top of the page in a huge text size and in a pink text box which the write font colour contrasts well to.
-       There is a huge photo of models wearing the clothes which encourages the shopper to look through the clothes and see something they would like to purchase.
-       It is clear and easy to find the desired item as there are different categories that show where everything is.



Media type: Video game – ‘Fortnite’ reviewed on Internet Matters


-       The different colour headline immediately brings attention to it and makes it stand out.
-       There is a picture of the author, which stands out, because he is quite well known.


-       The headlines in the article are in another bright colour so it brings attention to it and lets the reader know what the subject matter is.
-       There is a link to his other article in the paragraph.
-       There is a video included at the top of the screen which enhances the article.


Media type: Stories in the news – Focussing on how The Daily Mail compares with the Guardian and Vogue

-      Informal language.
-      Many capital letters and bold words.
-      Many bullet points before the article starts highlighting different sections the reader may want to jump to.
-     Formal language.
-     Shorter than the daily mail.
-     Short summary.
-     Picture at the very top.
-     Short headline.

-     Picture at the very top.
Images
-      Lots of images of the wedding.
-     Photos and videos included but still fewer than the Daily Mail.
-     Images are very common throughout the article with greater focus on fashion.
Text
-      Paragraphs are quite short – about 1 or 2 sentences
-      Many links to other Daily Mail articles.
-     Paragraphs are quite short – about 2 or 3 sentences but more than the Daily Mail.
-     Longest paragraphs out of all the news sources.
-     All the paragraphs are occupied by images.
-     Many links to other Vouge articles.

    I am ever so impressed with your effort here! You've clearly worked tremendously hard to get things done... as well as engaged with a great deal of media over the summer.

    To improve, in future please add in the use of embedded videos in your future work.
