  1. Media is a business 
  2. Seeks to make money
  3. Everything they produce is to make money
eg: BBC (TV, Documentaries) People want to watch documentaries to expand their knowledge
Disney (Films, Music - Targeted for children) Children are an easy target to sell to
Snapchat (Sponsorships and Subscriptions) People can purchase goods that's recommended to them


Media language
  1. How words, images and sound are used in media products to create meaning 
Denotation - what we see 
Connotation - what it means 

Representation

  1. How people, places, ideas are presented in the media 
eg: The Kardashians are presented badly in the media (there are many false rumours that news sources make up and they are often wrongly accused of being unintelligent)
Jake and Logan Paul are also represented as being sociopaths

Audience

  1. Who a media product is created/aimed for
eg: Disney films - produced for children
Ariana Grande's music - aimed for teens/young adults
